The Netherlands has had success in\nachieving a relatively high degree of public confidence in the justice system.\nThe Hague is recognised as the world capital for international justice. Dutch\norganisations have unique experience in implementing various judicial reform\nprojects in other countries (including in Ukraine, countries in the Western\nBalkans, and Moldova). Therefore, the Netherlands\u2019 experience was relied upon\nin the preparation of this document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The document is divided into the following sections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cTradition\u201d<\/strong>: does the level of confidence\ndepend on the geopolitical location of the country, its history and culture?\nhow does the confidence in the courts relate to the confidence in other public\ninstitutions? what are the trends in changing the level of confidence in courts\nover time and with respect to the experience of participation in judicial\nproceedings?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cPersonnel\u201d<\/strong>: how to ensure high quality of\njudicial personnel through the mechanisms of se-lection, training, and\naccountability? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cService orientation\u201d<\/strong>: how to make courts effective,\nconvenient, clear, and focused on the needs of participants in court\nproceedings?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>\u201cCommunications\u201d:<\/strong> how to increase confidence in courts by providing\nquality information services?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of this research paper is to facilitate an informed discussion with policymakers on improving confidence in Ukrainian courts.
