Can Ukraine keep the heating and lights on this winter?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place on <strong>August<\/strong> <strong>23<\/strong><strong> at 1<\/strong><strong>6<\/strong><strong>:00 (<\/strong><strong>CEST)<\/strong> via Zoom.<\/p>\n<p>The CES released its fifth monthly review of the most important developments in the economy since the beginning of the war. The reviews for previous months are available on <a href=\"https:\/\/ces.org.ua\/en\/category\/research-list-en\/economy-during-the-war-en\/\">the organisation&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, experts will traditionally provide an overview of the main sectors of Ukraine&#8217;s economy and focus on Ukraine&#8217;s energy security and preparation for the heating season.<\/p>\n<p>With the beginning of a full-scale war, the Ukrainian energy system could quickly integrate into Europe and ceased to depend on Russia and Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe &#8211; the Zaporizhzhia atomic power plant &#8211; was under occupation, and Russian troops are still trying to disconnect it from the Ukrainian system.<\/p>\n<p>These factors, as well as the destruction of the heating infrastructure and the potential resumption of &#8220;gas wars&#8221; with Russia, promise Ukraine perhaps the hardest winter in the entire history of independence.<\/p>\n<p>Agenda for the event:<\/p>\n<p>16:00 \u2013 16:05 Opening remarks, Deputy Team Leader at GET <strong>Robert Kirchner<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>16:05 \u2013 16:20 Overview of the Ukrainian economy in August, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dmytro Goryunov, Senior Economist of CES<\/span><\/p>\n<p>16:20 \u2013 17:00 \u00a0Discussion.
