Special topic: Build Back Better"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Centre for Economic Strategy and the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting presented\u00a0<strong>The recovery spending watchdog in June 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the past year, experts from the \u201cThe Recovery Spending Watchdog\u201d project have been conducting monthly reviews of recovery spending and procurement in the sector. \u00a0During this time, they have identified several challenges that hinder independent data assessment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the event, the programme participants presented examples of monitoring and spoke about the challenges they had to face at reconstruction sites. Together with the experts, we also discussed whether the Build Back Better standards are being met in the country&#8217;s reconstruction and how the principle of &#8220;rebuilding better than before&#8221; is being implemented in practice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GnZ6or84sfk?si=mvlOJ2H5TrOe9Z-l\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Invited participants:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Anna Ackermann<\/strong>, member of the Board of the NGO \u201cEcoaction,\u201d expert at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD);<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kostiantyn Filonych<\/strong>, Deputy Head of the Department for Territorial Recovery and Creation of Barrier-Free Living Environment, Department of Spatial Planning and Architecture, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine;<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u041eleksandra Khomyk<\/strong>, Deputy Director at Department of Economics Development of Regional State Administration;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Myroslava Negoda<\/strong>, Chief Specialist of the Department for Territorial Recovery and Creation of Barrier-Free Living Environment, Department of Spatial Planning and Architecture, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>This release has been developed within the project \u201cThe Recovery Spending Watchdog\u201d, funded by the EU.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The project is a collaborative effort involving the Centre for Economic Strategy, the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting\u00a0, and Technology for Progress NGO.
