Centre for Economic Strategy received a two-year grant for institutional development within the framework of the Think Tank Development Initiative in Ukraine implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation. Funding involves institutional strengthening of the organization by 2021 according to the strategic development plan.
‘Diversification of funding sources of the think tank is the evidence of the development and intellectual potential of the institution. This is a successful practice of the world’s best think tanks. Due to such support, Centre for Economic Strategy will be able to influence the State economic policy even more effectively, following its principles,’ – Tomas Fiala, Head of Supervisory Board of Centre for Economic Strategy, has emphasized.
‘We believe that only strong institutions can achieve real change. This grant will allow us to focus on strengthening analytical capacity and communication efforts, improving the quality of management and financial control. We are sincerely grateful to the International Renaissance Foundation and the Swedish Government for supporting independent study of the State policy in Ukraine,’ – Hlib Vyshlinsky, executive director of Centre for Economic Strategy commented on the grant.

About the Think Tank Development Initiative in Ukraine implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation
The Think Tank Development Initiative is implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation in partnership with the Open Society Initiative for Europe (OSIFE) and the financial support of the Government of Sweden.
The aim of the Initiative is to improve the quality and authorities’ practices of decision-making by increasing the role and level of trust in the think tanks. Changing the role of the think tanks in public decision-making process is possible through strengthening their institutional capacity, developing the best practices of think tanks activities and dissemination of the information on the best practices of the think tanks activities, coordination of the financial and information resources of the donors, who support the work of the think tanks in Ukraine.
The main tasks of the Initiative include
– increasing the role, publicity and the level of trust in the think tanks in public decision-making process;
– supporting the creation of institutionally stable think tanks that are capable of producing quality research and recommendations, which, in turn, are in demand among the key stakeholders.
– increasing the level of cooperation between central authorities and local self-government bodies.
