Ukrainian economy in war times: May review and focus on infrastructure

The Center for Economic Strategy (CES) invites you to join the discussion “Ukrainian economy in war times: May review and focus on infrastructure.”

The event will be on the Zoom platform on May 17 at 17:00 Kyiv time (16:00 CEST). (Registration required – form at the bottom of the page).

The event will be held in Ukrainian with a parallel translation into English.

In May, the CES conducted its second monthly survey of significant economic changes since the start of the war. The first review for April is available at the link.

This time we decided to focus the discussion on the infrastructural and logistical problems of the Ukrainian economy.

More than 70% of Ukrainian exports were transported by sea before the full-scale invasion. For the export of agricultural raw materials, this share reached 90%.

Russian troops currently block seaports, railways are being shelled, and businesses and the government are working hard to find alternative ways to transport goods. Will vehicles be able to make up for a lost time? Who will finance the rehabilitation of infrastructure for the country?

We will talk more about this in the online discussion on May 17 at 17:00 Kyiv time (16:00 CEST)

Event schedule:

17:00 – 17:15 Presentation of the May Review of the Economy of Ukraine, Deputy Director of CES Maria Repko
