Monitoring of the IMF and EU Assistance Program (March 2024)

In late February, the Ukrainian government and the IMF reached a staff-level agreement regarding the third review of the financing program. The decision is expected to be approved by the IMF Board of Directors shortly.

This unlocks the next tranche for Ukraine in the amount of approximately $880 million.

Additionally, on March 20, 2024, the Ministry of Economy published the text of Ukraine’s Plan for the implementation of the Ukraine Facility program, under which Ukraine may receive €50 billion over the next four years.

In March, Ukraine received the first tranche from the EU in the amount of €4.5 billion in the form of transitional financing. Another €1.5 billion is expected to be received in April, subject to meeting a number of conditions. In case of delays in meeting the indicators, the government will not receive the corresponding (clearly defined) amount of funds from the EU.

In the third issue, we analyzed the results of the implementation of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program and the EU macro-financial assistance program as of March 2024.

The event and publication are supported by the International Renaissance Foundation.
