Humanitarian aid for Ukraine: a joint request from the government and CES

Dear friend of Ukraine,

Ukraine needs humanitarian support. Due to Russia’s large-scale military aggression, the country is on the verge of a humanitarian crisis. Our citizens are in dire need of medications, medical equipment and consumables, goods for internally displaced persons. Our civil defense units need tactical clothes and equipment, individual medical packs and protective gear.

Our NGO, Centre for Economic Strategy, is assisting the Ukrainian Government via the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine (MinRe) in fundraising and coordinating humanitarian aid projects in line with requests of the Ukrainian government (see endorsement letter attached).

MinRe is constantly in touch with the CES staff and provides us with updated needs and contact information of the government entities responsible for receiving and distributing this aid. The latest list of needs is here:

You can help financially or in kind. Depending on your priorities we see the following options:

1. To help financially:

• Medical goods and goods for IDPs

We have established a partnership with Caritas Poland and Caritas Ukraine (see endorsement letter attached) to procure needed goods in the EU. Caritas Poland purchases in the EU medications, medical equipment and consumables, and goods for IDPs according to the list prepared by the Ukrainian government. Caritas Poland and Caritas Ukraine are responsible for all the formalities related to customs clearance of the humanitarian aid.

Caritas Ukraine organises handing the goods over to the Ukrainian authorities for the further delivery throughout Ukraine.

Caritas network has a strong experience in humanitarian aid operations and will provide all needed documents confirming procurement and handing over humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian authorities.

If you are a large institution and wish to provide a grant/donation to Caritas Poland with written proposal and agreement, please get in touch with Hlib Vyshlinsky, CES Executive Director. He will coordinate all formalities in line with your procedures.

• Protective equipment for the Ukrainian civil defense units

Before the Russian invasion Ukraine established a system of territorial civil defense units. They are armed but lack protective gear.

The center was established by Ukrainian business leaders Andriy Stavnitser, Vladyslav Chechotkin, Natalie Fuklyeva, Kseniia Yefremova, Anton Piatygin and Olga Balytska.

3. To donate things personally: Ukrainian logistics operator Nova Poshta has started delivering humanitarian help from their global warehouses to Ukraine. Volunteers can just take or send things to one of the below international warehouses and the goods will be sent to those who are in need.
