The recovery spending watchdog №15. Social housing

Centre for Economic Strategy and Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting presented the fifteenth issue of the regular publication ‘The recovery spending watchdog in November, 2024’.

According to the International Organization for Migration, as of March this year, around 3.4 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) were registered in Ukraine. Despite their guaranteed right to housing from the state, IDPs often must rent accommodation on their own. The share of social housing remains extremely low, and policy in this area has never been systematic.

During the event, we will discuss which housing support programs for IDPs are currently available, who funds them, and who they are intended for. We will also explore how the government develops legislation and approaches to creating a social housing fund.
