Ukrainian business losses from the war
Ukrainian business suffered USD 13 billion in direct losses as a result of Russian aggression. The total indirect losses of Ukrainian business amount to USD 33.1 billion. The amount needed to restore the companies is $24.9 billion.
That’s according to the calculations of the “Russia Will Pay” project for 2022, in which CES experts and other think tanks participate, according to the Telegram channel “What’s with the Economy?”
“USD 9 billion out of USD 13 billion are losses of large and medium-sized enterprises. At least 109 large and medium-sized enterprises suffered direct losses. 19 of them were completely destroyed, another 90 were partially damaged,” stated in the message.
Where are the most damaged enterprises
The majority of destroyed and damaged businesses are concentrated in six regions: Kyiv and Donetsk (17% of the total), Zaporizhzhia (14%), Kharkiv (13%), Luhansk (10%) and Mykolaiv (8%).
The largest enterprises affected by the invasion are Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, Azovstal, Nibulon, and Motor Sich.
” As the frontline becomes more stable, the number of damages to new businesses is also decreasing. In addition, the number of new cases of looting or theft of inventory is decreasing. It should be noted that information on damaged facilities is received with some delay,” explains CES Senior Economist Dmytro Goriunov.
