Economy review in November 2023. EU Accession Negotiations: Is the Ukrainian Economy Ready?

Since March 2022, the Centre for Economic Strategy (CES), together with the German Economic Team (GET), has been preparing monthly reviews of Ukraine’s economy during a full-scale war. All notes can be found under the link.

You can also access the visualization of monthly highlights through our regularly updated Ukraine War Economy Tracker.

The following happened in the Ukrainian economy in November: electricity export was suspended due to deteriorating weather conditions. However, exports of grains and oilseeds via the temporary sea corridor increased.

The hryvnia strengthened in November following the transition to managed flexibility, international reserves declined slightly, and inflation continued to decelerate.

More details can be found in the presentation. Also, we added to the review a special topic — “EU Accession Negotiations: Is the Ukrainian Economy Ready?”. Participants of the discussion:

  • Nazar Bobitski, Expert on EU trade policy;
  • Alberto Fernandez-Diez, Head of the Trade and Economic Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine;
  • Ivan Nagornyak, Deputy Director General of the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration;
  • Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade Representative of Ukraine;
