What should be funded with public money in war times aside from the military?
The Centre for Economic Strategy (CES) with the German Economic Team (GET), invites you to join the review of the economy in July 2023 with the special topic of the month: “What should be funded with public money in war times aside from the military?”.
The event will take place on August 9 at 17:00 (Kyiv Time) via Zoom. Please fill out the registration form at the bottom of the page for the event link.
In July, the balance of funds in the local budgets and budget institutions reached UAH 170 billion. Given the difficulty with finding internal resources for defense and security, these funds could be directed toward national expenditures.
During the event, we will discuss how this resource can be used without harming the interests of communities and local governments. We will also consider how public spending should be structured during a full-scale war.
In addition, we will review the main changes in the country’s economy for July as per the usual format of the event.
Reports for previous months are available on our website. You can also access the visualization of monthly highlights through our regularly updated Ukraine War Economy Tracker.
