Trade between Ukraine and the EU: Challenges of the ‘Semi-Open’ Market

The European Union is Ukraine’s biggest trade partner over the past ten years. The Association Agreement gave a significant boost to the integration of markets, which opened many new opportunities.

At the same time, both parties are now also facing challenges, which require bilateral solutions, such as the blockade of grain exports by Ukraine’s neighbors in the EU.

We discussed this and other cases together with experts and government officials. Our panelists:

  • Nazar Bobytskyi, EU trade policy expert;
  • Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Trade Representative of Ukraine
  • Olha Trofimtseva,Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2022-2023), Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine (2019).

This event was organized with the financial support of the European Union. Its contents are the sole responsibility of Centre for Economic Strategy and do not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union.
