Does Ukraine have enough gas? Financing the upcoming heating season

17 April 2025

The Centre for Economic Strategy (CES), in collaboration with the German Economic Team (GET), invites you to join the April review of the Ukrainian economy. The special topic of the event is: “Does Ukraine have enough gas? Financing the upcoming heating season”.

Following Russian strikes, Ukraine’s gas infrastructure has suffered significant damage. The country has lost a substantial portion of its production and finished the heating season with record-low gas reserves.

Estimates suggest that Ukraine needs between $1.5 billion and $3 billion to secure the necessary gas supplies. Donors are willing to cover only partially this amount. Where will the funds come from, and what can be done to get through the coming winter?

We will discuss this on April 17 at 17:00 via Zoom. Registration is available by the link.

In addition, CES experts will, as usual, review the main changes in the country’s economy over the past month. Reports for previous months are available on our website, and data visualization — in the War Economy Tracker.

Event schedule:

17:00 – 17:05 Opening remarks by Garry Poluschkin, Project Manager GET for Ukraine.

17:05 – 17:20 Review of the Ukrainian economy, CES team.

17:20 – 17:30 Special topic review, Oleksandr Kharchenko, Managing Director at EIR Center.
